Our goal is not to provide a synopsis of every film; rather, to reflect on the impressions and musings each film instills. This site also serves as a personal memory jogger as we begin the journey to chronicle the over 80 movies that have been named the best picture of the year by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Viewed from our unique generational perspectives, we, Alex age 58, and Elliot age 23, will provide our individual insights to films that have both stood the test of time as well as those films lesser known to today’s moviegoers. Many of our viewings will be revisiting old favorites while others will be experienced for the first time. We will not read film critic reviews to influence our opinion and plan to rate each film on a scale from 1 – worst to 10 – best. After we have completed our grading process, we will compare our ratings to those of IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes as reference points.
