Our goal is not to provide a synopsis of every film; rather, to reflect on the impressions and musings each film instills. This site also serves as a personal memory jogger as we begin the journey to chronicle the over 80 movies that have been named the best picture of the year by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Viewed from our unique generational perspectives, we, Alex age 64, and Elliot age 29, will provide our individual insights to films that have both stood the test of time as well as those films lesser known to today’s moviegoers. Many of our viewings will be revisiting old favorites while others will be experienced for the first time. We will not read film critic reviews to influence our opinion and plan to rate each film on a scale from 1 – worst to 10 – best. After we’re completed our grading process, we will compare our ratings to those of IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes as reference points. Thank you for reading our blog and we hope you will enjoy sharing our journey through movie history.

Elliot’s Background– Elliot is 30 years old and graduated from Emory University with a degree in Religion and Film Studies and an MBA in Corporate Finance from the University of Pittsburgh. While Elliot has dabbled in film making and production, his true passion has always been film appreciation. Sporting a collection of beta tapes that numbers in the 100s not to mention his VHS and DVD collections, Elliot has been an avid film fan since he overcame his severe fear of scary films like Balto and The Land Before Time.
